ABORIGINALS MAY NOT GET MUSIC FUNDS
By admin | January 9, 2012
There are some concerns by people in Australia that a new law designed to help indigenous peoples obtain better royalty rates for their artistic works is actually working the other way and is instead making it harder for Aboriginals to obtain the right amount of money for their artistic works, production music and visual endeavors because of the fact that many gallery owners and sellers of Aboriginal things like music and videos are choosing to work with artists on a consignment basis instead of paying those artists up front for their works. Although video and music arts are often paid up front, many other artistic creations are only on consignment.
