When we look at recipe books, or we sit back and look at recipe websites online, there is a tendency to constantly say “I should make that” whenever something looks good. Maybe you even go as far as to cut out or print out the recipe so that you can have easier access to it when it comes time to actually make it. The thing is, though, while we mean well with these recipes, we also have a tendency to never make most of what we want to make. The reason for this is simple: we are busy and making these new recipes, while exciting, will take more time than just falling back on the recipes that you are used to. Instead of trying something new with a spicy blender sauce, you are making that same chicken dish you always seem to make.

The thing is, you need to make time to try out new dishes. While making sauce in a blender may seem scary and time consuming, if you actually block out an hour to just try it you can at least figure out if it is right for you. Recipes are not something that you can expect to master on your first go around so take the first couple of times doing it as just practice. You don’t even have to serve recipes the first time that you make them, you can just make sure that you can do them correctly.

One of the biggest reasons why people don’t cook with new recipes is that they fear that they won’t be able to do it, or that they are too complex to try. The thing is, while open a can of salsa and putting it on chicken is fine, making said salsa in a blender will lead to you enjoying your food that much more. There is an old saying that talks about how the food that you make always tastes better. While this is debatable, there is a certain joy and pride that comes with making something new, especially if the people that you serve it to like it.

You can start with the new recipes slowly; maybe once a week you bring out the recipe book and try a new meat dish, pasta or a blender sauce. If you want to make it a family thing, bring your children into the game by helping you out. Once you get your footing, you can try new recipes and incorporate them into your weekly routine. It will make everyone’s taste buds that much happier.
